Mission Work

Immanuel Mission Fields

"The Harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. Luke 10:2

Having been received as a missionary congregation of the Province of Rwanda in the Anglican Mission in America, it would be hard to miss our love for missions work. Yearly it has been our calling and delight to send out teams into various places in the mission field. We as a congregation have personally ministered in such places such as: Biloxi, Miss., Haiti, Belize, Rwanda, Uganda, Jamaica, Navaho Nation, Mercy Ship and numerous inter-city excursions.

"The Land of a Thousand HIlls Coffee"www.landofathousandhillscoffee.com - coffee with a story. 30,000 independent coffee growers climb the hills, tend the soil and carry the beans on their shoulders down to cooperative village wash stations. The two best varieties of beans are separated, washed and meticulously tested for export. The destination is miles away from America.

The villages are scarred by one of history's worst cases of genocide. 800,000 thousand people were slaughtered, ten years ago. But the pride of the dedicated and determined Rwandans has made a miracle happen. There is optimism in the air, and forgiveness and reconciliation can be felt throughout the land.

Leaders in reconciliation are Anglican Bishop John Rucyahana and his wife Mrs. Harriet Rucyanhana. They bring together widows from the Twa, Tutsi and Hutu ethnic groups. Known as Inyakurama or Trinity, over 150 of these widows are working hard to restore their lives emotionally, spiritually and economically. Their hard work allows them to receive Micro finance loans to start small businesses which in many cases mean the difference between a sustainable life and death. For each bag of Land of A Thousand Hills Coffee that is purchased, you are investing up to0 $3.00 in the Rwandan economy. Drink a Cup and Do Good! It comes in several blends and has been said to be the "best" some have tasted. The bags sell for $11 and $21. Come by and try out a cup on Sunday morning.

Immanuel’s mission’s ministry is not only committed to personally go out and influence other nations for Christ, but also by reaching out and ministering to those in need with our financial giving. Our annual mission budget is currently 6% of our gross plate offering, with the hopes of enlarging our vision and giving in the future. There are many reasons to go out into all the world to fulfill the Great Commission; here are just a few reasons that motivate us to move outside of our own four walls.

Our Mission Objectives

1.   To be obedient to God’s word.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.  Acts 1:8

2.   To take the love and witness of Christ to others outside of ourselves.

Then the righteous will answer him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?' And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.' Matthew 25:37-40

3.   To use new experiences and service to kindle growth in Christ.

For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 2 Timothy 1:6

4.   To come along side the local missions and assist them in their ministry/work.

Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more. Luke 12:48

5.   To provide fellowship and encouragement to those full time on the missions field.

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11
