MINISTRIES
Youth
Y@IA - youth at Immanuel Anglican
(pronounced "Yey-yah") provides a God-saturated, safe environment where youth can feel relaxed in worship and fellowship geared just for them. Like Zacchaeus in Luke 19:4,6, we are climbing to see Jesus and welcoming Him to our house. Our focus is to develop disciples who will become disciple makers and pursue Jesus' commission in Matthew 28:19-20 and to be the hands and feet of Luke 19:10 ("for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost" - Jesus). We will climb and seek, so He can save. Contact Dominick Farone
Y@IA - on Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30 @ The Shed.
*********************************************
For the summer of 13', YAIA will be in a message series on Christian dating, marriage and sex called "The Little Black Book." It will give our teens principals for a healthy romantic relationship. (For a video with powerpoint of each sermon click HERE, then click the sermon title.)
As adults, we have to analyze what shapes the paradigm of our teenagers on the topics of love, dating, sex and marriage. The major sources are parents, entertainment, friends and school. Is it healthier for them to have their tough questions answered by Cosmo magazine and the fad movies OR by parents; by the universalistic approach of school OR by the Christian context of their youth ministry?
This series (based on the books, "Crazy Love," "Every Teenager’s Little Black Book on Sex and Dating," "Love and Respect," and "Men are Like Waffles and Women are Like Spaghetti") is not the end-all that will give them perfect virtues, wise dating and indestructible marriages, but it will give them ethics for a Godly, healthy dating relationship as Christians.
Parents, you are invited to come and sit in during each of the messages. Knowing what your kids have been taught at youth can help you engage with them in later conversations. I will also be keeping detailed notes of each message that you as a parent can take home and review and will be posted at iacdestin.org under resources.
